Melissa was born and raised in rural Southern Ontario, Canada. She has a Masters in English in the Field of Creative Writing from University of Toronto. She writes fiction and creative non-fiction. Her work has been published in literary journals such as The Puritan, Grain, Ryga, Qwerty, and Joyland. She was a finalist for the Rusty Toque Chapbook competition and recently won the gritLIT non-fiction competition. Her collection of short stories, The Whole Beautiful World, is published by Brindle & Glass. She lives in Hamilton, Ontario, with her husband and son.
