Interview for 49th Shelf

May 15, 2018 melissaannekuipers

I and two other Brindle & Glass authors did an interview with 49th Shelf this week. You can read some of my thoughts along with the responses of Sue Bedford and Shekhar Paleja here, or you can hear us live tomorrow night at Ben McNally Books in Toronto!

My kiddo wanted a unicorn cake for his birthday so I worked with fondant for the first time. Watching Nailed It paid off. He was really excited to eat the horn, and then after one bite said, "Blah." Yeah, fondant that comes in a big tub is not the tastiest.
Finally finished my very 70's vibing granny square vest. I didn't follow a pattern because hubris, but it was almost worth the effort, had it not been for the hours (I exaggerated not) of weaving in ends. How do people make entire blankets of granny squares? Grannies, I salute you.
Sourdough focaccia dough so jiggly! This is adapted from Bryan Ford's recipe in New World Sourdough, but I added spelt and oats. @artisanbryan 's recipe book is beautiful.
Sunshine sourdough! This one is packed with protein with quinoa and Hemp hearts.
Sourdough from the last 24 hours. After determining I was overproofing my loaves, I've been fermenting my dough for less time, but then it expands a lot and breaks up the scoring pattern. (Happy to hear any advice on this!)
Ice storm meets pier.
